Shree Siddhivinayak
About Shree Siddhivinayak Temple
- The Wish-Fulfilling Shrine of Mumbai
Located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple is one of the most famous and affluent temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it was originally built in 1801. The temple is unique because the idol of Ganesha features a trunk tilted to the right (Siddhivinayak), which symbolizes power and freedom from obstacles.
The idol is carved from a single piece of black stone and is flanked by figures of Riddhi and Siddhi, the goddesses of sanctity, fulfillment, and prosperity. The temple’s inner roof is plated with gold, and the wooden doors are intricately carved with images of the Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesha).
