About Rameshwaram Temple

The Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations for Hindus and is counted among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Located on the beautiful Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu, this ancient temple attracts millions of devotees every year who come to seek blessings and perform sacred rituals.

According to Hindu mythology, Rama worshipped Shiva at this sacred site to atone for killing Ravana. It is believed that Lord Rama built the Ram Setu bridge from Rameshwaram to Lanka during the events described in the epic Ramayana.

The temple is famous for having the longest temple corridor in the world, magnificent Dravidian architecture, and 22 sacred wells (Theerthams) where pilgrims take ritual baths before entering the temple for darshan.
